The U.S.-China Green Foundation is an independent non-profit organization established by the U.S.-China Green Fund. Since its establishment in September 2017, the Foundation has mainly focused on three areas: green education, green training, and green poverty alleviation. Driven by the themes of “environmental protection” and “zero waste,” the Foundation has developed a series of original training courses that are vivid and engaging to its audience, bringing green concepts to campuses, corporations, and communities. Our courses enhance public awareness of environmental protection, increase public willingness to act green, and promote public adoption of greener lifestyles. The Foundation encourages our course participants, whether they are elementary school students, corporate executives, or community citizens, to participate in green initiatives. Currently, more than 10 training courses have been conducted in Beijing, Zhangjiakou, Hebei, and Yunnan Province, with more than 800 participants. In the future, we will develop more partnerships to achieve social responsibility, enhance our influence, and strive to take the lead in green and sustainable development education and action.
In December, 2017, we established a partnership with the Environmental Defense Fund (EDF) to systematically assess, monitor, and quantify our investment impact. We incorporated environmental management and innovation as part of our standard best practices, in developing and implementing flexible tools, resources, and a set of analytical tools and metrics to determine and improve our business and environmental performance, in addition to financial performance.
Specifically, we are measuring the amount of reduced CO2 emissions and energy savings in buildings through our invested portfolio companies AIpark and East Low Carbon, respectively.
The U.S.-China Green Fund's strategic investment into Changcheng ("Great Wall") Property with the goal of creating a market leader in the property management industry, and an advocate for green smart communities, promoting eco-friendly low-carbon community environments based on smart management and sustainable development, through the monitoring of operational standards on a cloud platform and continuously improving energy efficiency, safety, health, and convenience, as well as trash sorting and recycling practices.
In 2018, U.S.-China Green Fund, in collaboration with its portfolio company East Low Carbon, launched two Building Energy Efficiency Action Plan events in Wuhan (Hubei Province) and Xi'An (Shaanxi Province), respectively. These events received tremendous support and endorsement from local governments such as the NDRC and Technology Bureaus, as well as industry associations. The Xi'An event, held on May 15, was also attended by several dozens of hotel owners and operators. East Low Carbon plans to invest in 30 some energy savings projects, including hotels and industrial facilities, in each of the provinces.
